Day 30

I love Monday. It means the house gets quiet and Rebecca and I get a little free time. Today we took McKenzie around while we ran some errands. We spent most of the day out of the house and then had a little take out for dinner. Both kids are in bed and actually quiet right now. Hoping for a peaceful night.

Day 29

Pretty boring day around the house today. I did get some more paperwork done for some Veterans Affairs stuff and I watched the Celtics beat the Lakers. I hope that everyone had a wonderful weekend and is ready to take on the week.

Day 28

A very quiet day spent around the house. I have been listening to a lot of blues today so I figured this was appropriate. Have a great Saturday night.

Day 27

A beautiful Friday here in the capital city. I ran around all day in a short sleeved shirt because thirty degrees felt like a heat wave after the last week we have had. I had one appointment at the VA hospital today for cognitive rehabilitation and did some grocery shopping with the wife. I also got even more paperwork from the Social Security administration to fill out. I am getting tired of filling out the same forms for two different agencies. The VA has me filling out the same thing just in a different format. I hopefully will get them done this weekend and in the mail on Monday. I hope that you all have a great weekend.

Day 26

I know that I am posting this a day late and will probably post again this evening but I was in no mood to do much of anything yesterday after I got home. I had to deal with idiots in the school parking lot which really got me going. Some moron decided that just having his hazard lights on gave him the right to park in the middle of the driving lane to pick up his child. The only trouble with that was that when he went inside he locked his keys in the van. This left the parking lot jammed up for almost half an hour. I did come home and relax though so I got a decent nights sleep. I do not like how one little thing like that can mess up my whole day. Today is a new day and I will try to keep a better mood.

Day 25

Another cold one here but not unbearable. I had to deal with the stupidity of parents today at school once again. No one there apparently knows how to use a parking lot or the rules of the school that their child attends. The district policy is that if the temperature is above ten degrees that the children will have recess outside. Some parents think that this is still too cold but have no idea how to deal with it other than complain loudly to other parents. My response was to talk to the administration or shut up and buy your kid a heavier coat. As you can imagine this did not go over so well. Alas, I came home and put my jammies on and have enjoyed a lovely evening with the family.

Day 24 State Of The Union

Another beautiful day here in central Maine. The temperature finally made it above zero today but not by much. The high for Augusta was 4 degrees. We did have sunny skies and about an inch of snow throughout the day. I am looking forward to the state of the union address tonight to get the President's view on the past year and the one ahead. I am already pretty sure what he will say but I wait with baited breath to hear the Republican response to the address. If the last two responses are any indication it should be hilarious. I can not wait to see if Paul Ryan (r) from Wisconsin talks about his "Road Map For America" tonight. I have no idea what the Tea Party response by Michele Bachman will be but I am guessing it will be very slanderous towards the President and will contain at least one reference to violence. I hope that you are all planning to watch and stay politically active in the following year.

Day 23

Not a lot going on here in the frigid northeast today. I had some cognitive rehabilitation at the VA hospital today and the temperature never rose above freezing. It did not feel that cold but I did not dilly dally outside today either. I hope that you are all warm and safe tonight. Have a great Tuesday.

Day 22

It has been a rather productive Sunday here at the house. The day started with blueberry pancakes and sausage for breakfast which delighted the girls. Then dinner went into the crock-pot and the cleaning of the house began. Rebecca has been working on the basement all day and I have been working on the kitchen. She is making great progress on our bedroom slash office. I have the kitchen pretty much squared away. The kids went out to play for a bit but the wind drove them back inside after about half an hour. They have been relatively good today but we are definitely ready for Monday and school to start back up. Not much planned for the next week but I am sure that things will pop up. I hope that you all have a wonderful week and take a moment to look around at the beauty you walk by everyday and never take a second to take a closer look.

Days 19, 20. and 21

So obviously I have been slacking again and am now three days behind. I managed to take pictures on all of the days I have just been lazy at uploading. The past week has been a little crazy with all of the snow and school days off due to it. We are now all dug out from the two storms the past week and have another one in our future. I hope that you are all enjoying your weekend and have a great Sunday.

Day 17

Not a bad day overall. Kyrie got out of school at 1145 today because of the snow so we have been house bound for the afternoon. I already shoveled twice and plan on doing it again in the near future. I know that it sounds crazy but if I do it now then it will not be anywhere near as bad in the morning. The plow hasn't even come down our street yet so I will have to deal with all that at the end of the driveway when it does come. I hope that you are all warm and dry tonight and have a great tomorrow.

Day 15 and 16

Ok, so I know that I have been slacking off already but I will just roll two days into one. Had a great time yesterday at Jaden's birthday party and have just hung around the house today. I am still working on over 300 photos I took at the party so I will have them available by Wednesday. I hope that you are all enjoying your holiday and have a great week.

Day 14

Today is my birthday and I haven't really done much. Had a great surprise visit from an old family friend and just hung out around the house while mom baked not one but two cakes. All in all it has been a good day.

Day 13

I know that it is early (before noon) to post my blog for the day but I have already been a man about town. My mother's car would not start this morning so I gave her a ride to work and then took Kyrie to school. After that I went to the VA hospital pharmacy and got my prescription filled. Today is an early out day for the Augusta schools so I need to pick Kyrie up in a little bit and then I have an appointment at the social security office at one this afternoon. I am sure that it will be exhausting and I have to bring a whole backpack full of records and papers.

My photo for the day was taken in the middle of the street in front of the house. I tried to get a little of the snow in the background so you can see what it is like here a day after a big snow storm. I hope that you all are having a wonderful Friday and I want to thank you for reading this. Comments are always welcome and I promise to respond to them. Have a great weekend everyone!

Day 12

I spent the morning digging out from the snow we got yesterday and last night. Kyrie was 10 minutes late for school because I didn't get the driveway done in time. After taking her to school I had an appointment at the VA hospital that went quite well. I also managed to get my medication dilemma taken care of. Tomorrow I know that I have a Social Security appointment and Kyrie has an early release day. Should be fun.

Day 11

I have been stuck inside all day today due to the weather outside. We have gotten more than a foot of snow today and I am content with just sitting on the couch and riding it out. I will get up early to shovel tomorrow and hope that one of my kind neighbors snowblows the end.

Tuesday, January 11, 2011

Day 10

I hope that everyone has had a great 11th day of the year. My big event of the day was going to the grocery store. I need to do some paperwork tomorrow to enroll in school so I can get some photography classes underway. Boring photo today as well. Just a simple selective color treatment to the windows into the soul.

Terrified

Ok, I know that I already posted earlier today but I really have to warn you about this. Shortly after taking my 365 photo I decided to clean my camera. In all of the excitement of cleaning I decided to clean the sensor as well. There is a reason that there are professionals out there who only do one thing, Clean Sensors! I spent the next 8 hours trying to get one miserable spring into one godforsaken hole. So the lesson learned for the day is don't be a cheap ass and try to clean your own camera. Send it out to the pros and use your wife's point and shoot for a couple days. Sleep well everyone.

Day 9

This morning has been rather mundane for a Monday. Kyrie is at school and Rebecca and McKenzie are upstairs playing. I was planning to do some still life photos this morning but it turns out that I needed to clean the sensor on my camera instead. The sensor is all clean now and as you can see I am fighting the cat for desk space. He loves to sit on your shoulder like a parrot but he doesn't realize that he is a huge cat and not a kitten. No big plans for the rest of the day so I might try to get some more pictures from around the house today. I am pleased at how well my shot of the old Kodak camera came out though. You can see it on my Facebook page or on my Flickr page. Have a great Monday everyone.

Day 8

It has been a bright sunny day here in central Maine today. We awoke to some light snow on the ground but it was all melted away by noon time. The wife and I went and ran some errands today and I cleaned the kitchen. Fun stuff huh? The girls have enjoyed their weekend by playing in the snow and visiting with Uncle Craigles and Auntie Sarah. They also got to see Uncle Luc and Laura yesterday. The house is starting to wind down and it is almost dinner time for the kids. Then it is baths and bed to get ready for the coming week. I hope that you have all had a wonderful weekend and that you week is just as well.

Saturday, January 8, 2011

Day 7

Today is my oldest daughter's birthday today so we had some fun and plenty of cake and ice cream. The house is calming down now and McKenzie is already in bed. Managed to sneak my photo in during the party today with her Scooby Doo mask on. Have a great night everyone.

Friday, January 7, 2011

Day 6

I took my 365 photo much earlier than usual today because we are heading to Portland tonight to have dinner with my brother and sister in law. I am excited to see what shots I can get in the city tonight though. It is very cold here this morning as you can tell by my rosy red cheeks. I hope that you all have a great Friday and be careful out there this weekend.

Thursday, January 6, 2011

Day 5

I did not actually fall down the stairs today (I did that last week) I still feel like I did. My back has been killing me all day and I am not the only one in the house who is feeling under the weather. My wife and mother are both fighting through colds so I shouldn't complain too much. I can still breath fine and am not burdened with all the other ailments that accompany the common cold. Here's to tomorrow being a better day.

Wednesday, January 5, 2011

Day 4

I went out and about the town today with the wife and my youngest daughter. We didn't do much, just to A.C. Moore to get some poster board for a background and to do some grocery shopping. Speaking of which I think the clerk at the grocery store paid us to shop there today. We paid for our groceries with cash and debit card. Once we swiped the card she gave us the cash back and the wife and I looked at each other and asked her if she was sure. She said she was and we left the store wondering what had just happened. Rebecca checked the bank account from her phone and realized that the clerk had only charged our account the difference and not the whole amount. In this day and age I will take every break I can get. Have a great night everyone and support your local grocery store, they might just return the favor.

Tuesday, January 4, 2011

Day 3

Had another very cold but sunny day here in central Maine. I went down by the river again today and took some more photos facing west. The river is thinking about freezing and there are small patches of ice floating downstream.

Orton Bridge

Ok, so I know that I just posted my 365 picture but I just tried the Orton Effect on one of the photos I took today and am very happy with how it turned out. Just wanted to share it with all of you. Have a good night everyone.

Day 2

Today has been a fairly good day. My mom watched the kids while the wife and I went and did some shopping. I also stopped downtown to take some pictures of the old train bridge. I took my 365 picture there as well as a few others that I think came out decent. I am mulling over ideas for photos for tomorrow since Kyrie will be back in school and I will have a day to myself. Possibly exploring Water Street here in Augusta. There are some great spots down there if you don't mind walking a little bit. I hope that you all have a great day and an even better tomorrow.

Sunday, January 2, 2011

Day 1

I have decided to restart my 365 day self portrait project. I was doing it last year and the move caused me to miss days after completing over 300 days. This year I will be focused and I will complete it! I will not be posting the pictures to Facebook because I often have to re-size them which causes some distortion to the original image. I do hope that you will follow me on here or on my Flickr account. Have a wonderful year everyone and I look forward to your comments and criticisms.
